History:
The original church was built in the 7th Century and a church was mentioned at Stoche in 1086 in the Domesday book. The north aisle was added in 1190. The church chest is 12th Century. The chancel was built in 1240 and the mural is 13th Century. The church was much restored in the 19th Century.

Brasses:
John D'Abernon of Stoke and Hedley, died 1277, Sheriff of Surrey. This is the oldest Englsh brass. The shield was enamelled blue on copper and inserted seperately onto the brass.

John d'Abernon died 1327, knighted 1278, knight of the shire 1297.
